Mission of the Laboratory is to develop the international level environmental physics and chemistry science in Lithuania in order to understand the origin, composition and variation of gaseous substances and aerosol particles and their influence on the climate change.

The Laboratory objectives are to gain new fundamental knowledge about the physicochemical properties of aerosols by developing investigation methods for environmental research and protection technologies.

Main tasks:

  • To determine the chemical composition and size distribution of different origin of atmospheric fine fraction aerosols.
  • To determine organic material and elemental carbon impact on the aerosol formation and evolution.
  • The development of methods for evaluating origin of heavy metal sources.
  • Development of environmental research and protection technologies.
