On May 2nd, FTMC welcomed a delegation from Taiwan – we had the honor of hosting representatives from the Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU AISSM).

NCKU is the second-largest university in Taiwan and one of the most highly ranked universities in all of Asia. The institution is renowned for its top-tier researchers who develop products for technology giants such as Apple and Samsung. The university holds a particularly strong reputation in the fields of science, engineering, medicine, and technology.

AISSM, a branch of NCKU, was established in 2021 and is known for its rich hardware resources, with Artificial Intelligence as its backbone and high energy sensitivity in its mind.

The delegation visited FTMC to explore opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including, but not limited to, optical science, lasers, and precision manufacturing related to semiconductors. FTMC is pleased with the prospect of this partnership, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed.

The document was signed by FTMC Director Prof. Ramūnas Skaudžius and NCKU AISSM Dean Prof. Yan-Kuin Su.

As stated in the memorandum, its purpose is to “establish research cooperation to the mutual benefit of both parties,” as well as to develop “joint research projects and the exchange of experiences and scientific knowledge between researchers from both institutions.” In addition, both parties aim to search for suitable funding sources to implement joint projects and to organize exchange visits for researchers from both FTMC and NCKU AISSM.
