Elections to the FTMC Scientific Board took place on 4 May. 258 staff members of the Centre expressed their opinion online, which is 82.7% of the total number of colleagues who were eligible to vote.
The FTMC Scientific Board is composed of 17 members elected for a term of five years. Of these, 11 are elected by secret ballot by FTMC staff, 5 are elected by representatives of other institutions or bodies, and 1 representative is delegated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (MoESS) of the Republic of Lithuania.
The eleven candidates nominated by FTMC, who received the highest number of votes, have been elected to the new FTMC Scientific Board (listed below in alphabetical order):

Dr Irmantas Kašalynas (Department of Optoelectronics);
Dr (HP) Linas Labanauskas (Department of Organic Chemistry);
Dr Gediminas Račiukaitis (Department of Laser Technologies);
Dr Arūnas Stirkė (Department of Functional Materials and Electronics);
Dr Kastytis Zubovas (Department of Fundamental Research);
Dr (HP) Nerija Žurauskienė (Department of Functional Materials and Electronics).
The following five external candidates, who received the highest number of votes in the election, have also been elected to the new FTMC Scientific Board (listed below in alphabetical order):
Kęstutis Jasiūnas (Chairman of the Board at EKSPLA);
Prof. Dr Aidas Matijošius (Dean of the Faculty of Physics at Vilnius University);
Dr Simona Pūkienė (Senior Advisor of the Science and Innovation Division at the Defence Material Agency under the Ministry of National Defence);
Dr Lukas Taujenis (Chief Manager of the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Research Center at THERMO FISHER SCIENTIFIC BALTICS);
Prof. Dr (HP) Gintaras Valušis (Vice-Rector and Pro-Rector for Research at Vilnius University).
A letter has been sent to the MoESS concerning the delegation of a candidate to the Scientific Board. We will inform you about the nominated candidate when we receive a response.
The Board will start its five-year term with its first meeting, during which it will elect the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Secretary. The meeting will take place on 10 September 2025 at 16:00 in Room D401, Saulėtekio Ave. 3, Vilnius, and will be chaired by the oldest member of the Board.
