FTMC Department of Laser Technologies Receives “Innovation of the Year” Award

At the Lithuanian Laser Association (LLA) conference “Lazeriai. Mokslas ir technologijos 2026” (Lasers: Science and Technology 2026), the FTMC Department of Laser Technologies received the “Innovation of the Year” award. The researchers were recognised for their achievements in the field of ultra-precise laser material processing.

According to Dr Romualdas Trusovas, Deputy Head of the Department, such recognition is above all a result of the efforts of the entire team:

“Laser technologies advance when we have not only good ideas, but also people who are willing to test them, make mistakes, seek new solutions, and move forward. This award is a recognition of our team’s collective work and many years of dedication.”

The laser microfabrication technology for which FTMC received the award is an advanced non-contact manufacturing method that enables highly precise processing of a wide range of materials at the micro- and nanoscale. Today, this technique is widely used in microelectronics, semiconductor manufacturing, medical devices, and the aerospace industry.

The LLA conference was held to mark the 60th anniversary of the first laser being operated in Lithuania. Over the past several decades, Lithuania’s laser sector has become one of the country’s most remarkable high-tech success stories. FTMC researchers continue this tradition by developing technologies that address today’s scientific and industrial challenges.
