Innovation Agency Expert Martynas Survilas on Lithuania-U.S. Scientific and Business Ties: There is Still Significant Potential

Where do Lithuania and the United States have the greatest opportunities to deepen cooperation in science and technology?

This relevant question was explored today by one of the speakers at the Lithuania-U.S Science and Innovation Forum held at FTMC, Martynas Survilas, Director of Innovation Development Department at Innovation Agency Lithuania.

“Now, Lithuania and the U.S. have very strong business ties. We have a lot of success stories in space, fintech, and defence. I believe there is also significant potential in these areas, and we should perhaps start with one small-scale project and then see where we could proceed.

We need to get started, establish MOUs and other agreements, and turn them into action.

My main message today is that the US is one of Lithuania’s main export markets. Our countries are closely connected through a range of agreements and a number of successful partnerships. To further strengthen this cooperation, we need to bring together technology companies, define business needs, and take action,“ says the expert.

The Lithuania-U.S. Science and Innovation Forum is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania together with its partners, FTMC and the Lithuanian Consortium for Engagement with MIT.

The event forms part of the programme of International Science Week in Lithuania, “(re)SEARCH 2026”. For more information, please visit scienceweek.lt.
