Prof. Gintaras Valušis elected to the EARTO Executive Board

Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC) became the Member of European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO) Executive Board. After the vote on 3 April 2020, EARTO‘s General Assembly announced FTMC director prof. Gintaras Valušis as the Member of EARTO  Executive Board.
 
"We are very pleased to be elected to join Executive Board as the Member and work with  the 22 strongest scientific institutions of Europe. The EARTO Association unites more than 350 European research centers and institutes, whose main activities are focused on applied researches and the creation and development of high technologies. Research organizations are admitted to EARTO only after a thorough professional examination of their scientific and technological activities. The EARTO Executive Board is composed of representatives from the research centers, which are exceptionally active in scientific research and technology development.
 
Therefore, we are proud to be invited to join the EARTO  Executive Board and share responsibility for the association's decision-making, scientific strategy development and other activities.  Also we accept this membership not only as the valuation of FTMC researchers  scientific excellence and FTMC high value-added technologies, but also as  the recognition by all international scientific community. It means, that the experience and scientific knowledge of the Center staff are of the same particular value and interests to other European science and technology institutions. ” - says FTMC director prof. Gintaras Valušis.
 
FTMC, the largest scientific research institution in Lithuania, was admitted to EARTO last year, on July 25. The Center is the only Lithuanian state research institution in this organization. The EARTO brings together more than 15 000 highly qualified European scientific researchers and innovation developers. Prof. G. Valušis will work on the EARTO Executive Board with researchers and managers from the Fraunhofer Institute of Germany, VTT of Finland, Tyndall National Institute of Ireland etc.
 
Last June the leading research centers of Lithuania - FTMC, Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI), Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry (LAMMC) and Science and Technology Park of the Institute of Physics - have established the Association of Research and Technology Organizations - RTO Lithuania. This organization is the  national counterpart of EARTO and aims to promote research and innovation cooperation between members.
 
In 2 April 2020 FTMC celebrates the 10th anniversary of the acitvity. It is the leading region's scientific Center carrying out physics, chemistry, fundamental and technology research and technological competence development in international level. In FTMC work more than 640 employees, more than 500 researchers and 97 PhD students. Center conducts research for the development of high technologies and the creation of the „knowledge economy“ in Lithuania and the world, develops new high value-added prototypes. FTMC provides scientific services to more than 380 national and foreign companies, science and technology parks. In the LITEK cluster there are created conditions for the establishment and growth of new high value-added business.
