Explanations and Legal Information

Discrimination includes direct and indirect discrimination, harassment, instructions to discriminate based on gender, race, nationality, citizenship, language, country of origin, social status, beliefs or convictions, age, sexual orientation, disability, ethnic background, or religion.

Harassment is unwanted behaviour based on gender, race, nationality, citizenship, language, country of origin, social status, beliefs or convictions, age, sexual orientation, disability, ethnic background, or religion, aimed at insulting or violating a person’s dignity, or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment.

Sexual harassment is unwanted behaviour of a sexual nature toward a person, expressed verbally, in writing, or through physical actions, where such behaviour is intended, or has the effect of violating a person’s dignity, particularly by creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading or offensive environment.

The employer is required to create a work environment in which an employee or a group of employees does not experience hostile, unethical, degrading, aggressive, abusive, or offensive actions that threaten their honour and dignity, physical or psychological integrity, or that are intended to intimidate, belittle, or place the employee or group of employees in a vulnerable and powerless position.
