EN - Modeling of the electromagnetic and thermoelectric response of carbon based nanostructures

Basic information about electromagnetic and thermoelectric parameters of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can be obtained mainly from measurements on either composite media or ensembles comprising those nanoparticles. In these materials, a modification of the electromagnetic and thermoelectric response due to electron tunneling transport between neighboring nanoparticles plays important role and should be taken into account. The main goal of the proposed research is to develop a theoretical basis for the descriptions of electromagnetic and thermoelectric responses of CNT-based media, taking into account finite-length effects, electromagnetic and tunneling coupling of neighboring tubes. The developed theories will bridge the gap between microscopic electromagnetic and thermoelectric parameters of CNTs and the macroscopic parameters of CNT networks. The theory will be applied to interpret experimental data collected and to predict novel and useful properties of CNT-based media.
