On 9 May, The Innovation and Technology Office of FTMC met with representatives of the Lithuanian Apparel and Textile Industry Association (LATIA) - Director General Gytė Bėkštienė and Project Manager Jolanta Urvikienė.
We aim to jointly renew and strengthen our partnership with one of Lithuania's strongest industries, and this meeting helped to clarify the key needs of textile companies and the areas where our researchers can be of value.
One of the key topics in which we will continue cooperation is the development of new, environmentally friendly and easily recyclable textile fabrics. This is a challenging, as modern fabrics are often composed of many different materials, which makes textile recycling difficult.
To solve this problem, we will look for effective ways to produce a new generation of fabrics that are easier to recycle - or do not need to be recycled at all. By tackling these challenges together with our partners, we can contribute to accelerating a sustainable future.
